A few notes…
Bateman’s- Bill Bateman’s fund raiser is tomorrow, Sunday July 10. Please bring in the attached flyer and Bill Bateman’s will donate 15% of your dine in or carryout sale for the day to the Aberdeen Penguin Swim Team. Please forward to your friends.
Lap Swim- FUN FUN FUN!!! Thanks to Sandi and Jenn for organizing, for Pat for a delicious breakfast and for the MANY volunteers who helped with counting laps and serving food. Penguin parents are awesome!! Please be sure to turn in your lap swim donations by Wednesday to be considered for prizes. Almost forgot…great job to Coach Brittany, Coach Kristin and Coach Charlie, I think they swam a combined total of 9 laps!!!
Picnic-Attached is the info for the team picnic. Tickets will be sold Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at practice. Please see Sandi Link or Robin Gresock to purchase. The team photo will be taken at 5:00, please wear your team suit for the photo.
Championships-Attached is the info for championships. You may visit Harford Swim League website to find out how your swimmer has been ranked, so far, in the county. Any questions please ask!! Championships are a lot of fun for the kids so please consider signing up. We will continue practices July 18-22 to help prepare the swimmers for their races. I will need a total of 24 timers in order to have 1 hour time slots for championships. Please see me at practice or email me if you are able to time. THANK YOU!!
Requests-Unfortunately some of the requests for todays meet were put in the wrong mail box and were not found until after the meet was submitted. If you did not get your request, the coaches will put you in your requests for Wednesday’s meet…sorry!!

Another Great Meet Way to go Penguins!!!
Lap Swim tomorrow Friday, July 8 from 8-10 am!!
Picnic- The flyer for the team picnic is attached. Tickets will be sold during lap swim on Friday, July 8 and at practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (July 11-13). Please note the team photo will be taken at 5:00!!
Bateman’s- This Sunday, July 10th is Bateman’s fund raiser Day from 11a-11p. Please print out attached flyer and bring it with you to Bateman’s.
Photos- Kerry North will be taking individual pictures of swimmers this Sunday morning July 10 at the pool (10-12am). I will have a sign up form at lap swim tomorrow. The pictures are taken before the pool is open, using the pool as a background. Great photos!! See me at lap swim with any questions.

Great meet last night. Way to go Penguins, it was a very close meet.

Wednesday, July 6
Our last home meet!! Attached is the snack bar request list and volunteer schedule. Again, if you are not attending the meet please send your snack bar item in with another family.
We need to get the bulkhead in and out on Wednesday. Please arrive at 3:30 on Wednesday to help put in bulk head, if you did not originally volunteer, please consider helping out…the more people we have the faster it will be. If you are an older swimmer on the team we could also use your help!! The bulk head will also need to be taken out at the end of the meet, please consider staying until the end of the meet to help.
We are short a couple of volunteers. If you are able to help for second half line up or snack bar please let me know.

Great Meet Today!!
Thanks to all our volunteers, you were great.
The kids did a wonderful job, great sportsmanship and great times!

Our warm ups will be:
11 and under 5:30
12 and older 5:45
Please arrive at the pool by 5:15 so you will be ready for warm-ups.

Aberdeen Dive Team

The Aberdeen Swim team has been competing for over 20 years and we have grown to one of the largest teams in Harford County. It’s great to see our kids compete and improve their times.
The Aberdeen Diving team is just starting our second year in the Central Md. Dive League. We are still accepting registrations for anyone who is interested in joining the team. We need some more kids (especially boys and 13 & over) who want to learn how to look better and develop some new skills. Practice starts Wednesday night (June 2nd) and I’ve attached the practice schedule.
Last year, all of our divers (and their parents) were amazed at some of the dives they learned and their improvement as the season progressed. Many of the kids were scared at learning some new dives (like flips or back dives) but once they did it, their confidence level shot up. Diving is a great sport to teach your kids to overcome their fears and build their confidence.
If you (or your kids) are interested, but not sure about joining the diving team, you may come to two practices to try it out before signing up and paying the fee. Also, unlike last year, we will have three home meets this year (July 1st, 8th, and 15th) so we will have less traveling and opportunities to have relatives come and watch your kids. If anyone has any questions, feel free to call me or find me at the pool.

2010 Penguin Registration UPDATE

Thanks to all the penguin families for showing up at registration tonight! We had a great turn out. If you are a returning penguin and did not make it to registration please contact Lauri ASAP. At this point the only age group we need to close is the 11/12 girls. All other age groups remain open for Thursdays registration. The age groups will be filled on a first come first served basis.

In case you have not heard the Boys and Girls Club will be running the pool this year and sponsoring our swim team. Registration for the Penguin Swim Team will be held at the HdG Activity Center (located behind the HdG Middle School) on the following dates:
Tuesday, April 27, 6:00-8:00 (for returning swimmers and their siblings only)
***if you are a returning member and are not able to make the April 27th date please call me and make arrangements to have your paperwork in by the 27th. Any open spots will be available for new members on Thursday, the 29th.
Thursday, April 29, 6:00-8:00 (open to all as long as age group has openings)
**please check here for any age groups that are at capacity before registering on April 29th.
Below is the swim team registration form along with the Boys & Girls Club membership. All swim team members must join the Boys & Girls Club for insurance reasons. The $12 Boys and Girls Club fee is included in your swim team registration fee.
There is also a membership form for the pool. The Boys & Girls Club has dropped pool membership fees to encourage new members to join. As you will see the non-member swim team rate is much higher than the member rate, this is also to encourage membership at the pool.

We have reserved the Activity Center behind the Middle School for swim team registration. Please mark your calendars, we will be sending more info out as soon as we have it!!!
Tuesday, April 27, 6:00-8:00 – returning swimmers and their siblings only!!!
Thursday, April 29, 6:00-8:00 – new swimmers (check here for any age groups that are full after Tuesdays registration).
Dive Team will also be holding registration on Tuesday the 27th and Thursday the 29th.
